Technical outline
Chlorine dioxide (Purogene) is the medicine which has been done as research and development and produced commercially so that the ingredient "chlorine dioxide" which the generated chlorine dioxide gas (gas) is solved and stabilized underwater, and is demanded when required might be emitted.
Unlike other products, the technique of taking in into solution the chlorine dioxide which is gas has the greatest advantage. By pH, the character as a medicine changes and Purogene acts as a controlling bacillus agent at the acidity side, the disinfectant at the alkali side. Further, at the time of delivery, it is adjusted as an alkali side for stabilization.
The mechanism which sterilizes a microbe has very unique chlorine dioxide, it becomes a trigger that the microbe which is an organism contacts chlorine dioxide, the chlorine dioxide of necessary quantity is emitted, and the cell of a microbe is broken and is annihilated.
A resistant bacteria does not grow so that the method of sterilization is in cell disruption (destruction of protoplasm).

Activation
Since it is adjusted to the alkali side, even if it dilutes a medicine to the concentration of the purpose as it is, since Purogene in the time of delivery has the stable chlorine dioxide molecule in a diluted solution, as a disinfectant, the purpose cannot be given to the inside of a short time.
(Not necessary for activation a controlling bacillus agent and aimed at obtaining a deodorizer.)
In order to fully demonstrate an effect as a disinfectant, it becomes a key which separates a chlorine dioxide stable in solution. Then, it "will be activated" in order to fully demonstrate the characteristic as a disinfectant.
Since it is usually adjusted to the alkali side, Purogene adjusts the liquefaction (pH) of solution to the acidity side in order to activate this. It carries out to this adjustment by adding the acid (citrate, phosphoric acid, chloride, etc.) of a food additive level.
A test result shows that sterilizing properties are increasing as pH is on an acidity side.
Activation
Sanitizer is the substance or medicine which decreases contamination by a microbe even to the safe level determined by the demand on public health. It is used as the indicator for these to satisfy the following characteristics generally.
1. Have sufficient biological effect.
a) An effect is homogeneous and be effective also to vegetative form bacteria, a fungus, and a virus.
b) The sterilization time should be shorter and effect revelation should be early.
2. There should not be an effect fall by environmental conditions (water hardness, pH, etc. of an organic matter, filth, soap and detergent, and water).
3. There need to be a detergency effect.
4. Toxicity should be low and no stimulativeness for user.
5. Make solution from a required concentration easily.
6. No odor -- or even if there is a smell, don't give displeasure.
7. Even if you dilute also with an undiluted solution, be chemically stable.
8. Not corrode an instrument and apparatus. etc.
Evaluation of chlorine dioxide (Purogene)
Item | Evaluation of chlorine dioxide |
---|---|
Work as a disinfectant | It has a wide area antibacterial spectrum until it results in bacteria, fungi (mold etc.), a bacterial spore bacillus, and a virus in extremely low concentration. |
About solubility | It is easy to resolve into water 10 or more times as much as chlorine, and the solution is stable at -4~93 ℃ (good service temperature). |
About stability | Use is possible in the large domain of pH 2~10. It is water with a hardness of 1,000 ppm in carbonic acid Ca conversion, and continuous use is good to 60 ℃. |
Safety to humans | It is considered one of the grades with the lowest toxicity, and classifies into the fourth category according to EPA. |
Organic matter-proof nature | In order that there may be no reaction of a double bond with carbon like chlorine, an effect outstanding to the organic matter is demonstrated. |
About remains activity | Two proper use called the sterilization at the time of the bacteria control and activity (acidity) in non-activity (alkali) can be performed. |
About non-corrosiveness | Non corrosiveness on each use. |
About un-polluting nature | At a normal state, it exists as "salt", and exists as "gas" at the time of activity, and there is no generation of the causative agent of contamination. |
Deodorization, deodorant ability | Deodorization / deodorization capability as sanitizer. |
